Now that the Sporting Life 10k is behind me, I feel that it’s time to sign up for a Sprint Triathlon. I haven’t done one since 2011 and I miss the cross training.
To psyche me up for this new goal, I did a few things:
a) I bought a road bike. This was a huge step for me (ie huge investment) but it feels good. I went to the EnduroSports annual swap event, and bingo I walked out with this beauty for $500. #totallyscore
b) MEC (otherwise known as Mountain Equipment Co-op) helped me out in regard to some accessories. For example, a pair of sun glasses (which are critical when you are out there riding), and a pair of gloves (again, critical) .
Of course, I needed a pouch to hold my beloved Samsung Galaxy S5, keys, and gel packs.
I’ve actually been a huge fan of MEC ever since the kids were little and I bought a MEC snowsuit. To this day, I still think they are the most brilliant snowsuits out there!!
To be honest, when my cousins were visiting from Israel, we put MEC on the list of “tourist attractions” as it truly is a spectacular store with quality products and service.
Now it’s time for me to get in the pool, get out there and ride, and continue to run. Wish me luck.
Promise to keep you updated

I have been training for the Mississauga half marathon since January. This means that I’ve been huffing and puffing on the treadmill at GoodLife Fitness 4-5 times a week. It also means that I’m more aware of what I’m drinking and eating. In particular I’m super aware of staying properly hydrated.
Please note, that plain tap water will always be my number one choice! But there are moments when I need a diversion. Do you know what I mean? So here’s a list of other beverages that I’m enjoying these days.
O.N.E Coconut Water:
I’m in love with this drink. Especially after a workout due the huge amounts of potassium in this beverage (19% for 670 g). It’s 100% coconut water and when it’s super cold – it’s delicious.
Metromint:
Talk about a refreshing drink!! As their website says “Pure Water. Real Mint”. There’s lots of different flavors – i.e spearmint, lemonmint, orangemint, and more – but I always seem to stick to the peppermint. On a side note: I love the packaging.
Here’s a list of other drinks that I consume occasionally. Very occasionally.
Boylans:
This soft drink is made with pure cane sugar and not high fructose corn syrup – which means that it tastes WAY better. The rootbeer and the black cherry are my favorites but there’s lots of other great flavors too (grape, vanilla cream, orange, cola, birch, and gingerale). After you drink this brand it’s hard to reach for Crush.
Beer:
Look at these two gorgeous bottles!! (Im a sucker for packaging – have you noticed?)
Great Lakes Brewery makes a refreshing Orange Pale Ale and Beaus All Natural is grabbing my attention too. I will open one bottle after the Sporting Life 10 and the other bottle will be opened after the half marathon. Nothing like being prepared!!

Thought I might jot down some “reflections” regarding 2010. I’m a pretty positive person so naturally I only think of the “GOOD TIMES’.
I even have a napkin that reflects this positive outlook:
Here’s my list of some “good times” that occurred in 2010.
-completed the Niagara Sprint Triathlon and ran the Sporting Life 10K too.
-worked as a food sales rep for DSM Foods and opened up many new accounts (double digits).
-enjoyed a variety of tweets ups in Toronto and in Ottawa as well.
-travelled to New York to attend the Speciality Fine Food Show in June.
-went skating on the canal in Ottawa for the first time in decades and had a blast.
-discovered new coffee shops and restaurants like a good foodie. (ha)
-2010 could be called “the year of twitter”. I’m addicted. It’s official
-bought an Ipad and a Macbook in 2010 and loving both. (i hope my iphone isnt jealous).
-read some great books (Repairing Rainbows by Lynda Fishman) and saw some great movies too (Black Swan).
-blogged for Urbanmoms for almost a year and then created momwhoruns in October. Blogging, for sure was a huge part of 2010.
-was introduced to Zumba at GoodLife Fitness and now I’m hooked.
-tried hard to eat breakfast. (think egg whites or quinoa flakes)
-enjoyed the summer by travelling to Kingston, Cobourg, Elora, Stratford and Niagara on the Lake. We live in a great province. Really.
-Continued to be surrounded by awesome family and friends!!
Looks like 2010 was a good year. I’m certainly looking forward to 2011.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.
