Today’s blog post is dedicated to the question: How Many Knives Do You Own? I have a lot….errr….WAY TOO MANY. It all started 20 years ago, when I never invested in a decent knife. My attitude was “I’ll buy another one”.

My useless knife collection

This is NOT the right attitude. Here’s why.

A long time ago, I saw a blog post (or was it a tweet???) with the question: “What’s Your Favorite Kitchen Tool”. Many of the replies were  “MY KNIFE”.

Think about it. Do you think you could make a dish without a knife? It truly is an instrumental tool to have in the kitchen.

Because it’s so important,…I will be giving away a CUTCO knife to one lucky reader!! (value $138). All you have to do is go to the Cutco Website and leave a comment telling me which knife you would want to own.  If you haven’t heard of Cutco before, here’s what you need to know about this North American company: a) they have a Forever Guarantee b) they produce quality, SHARP knives c) they are all about offering exceptional knives and customer service.

Isn’t that easy? Isn’t this a great contest? Something tells me, I’m not the only one with a million knives in their kitchen. Actually I’ve decided that these knives are going into the GARBAGE. Ever since I was introduced to Cutco, I’m now dicing vegetables like a pro and have no need to  have useless knives in my kitchen!!

What a difference a good knife makes!!

The contest will run from Thursday Dec 6th to Friday Dec 21st and is open to all Canadian residents. A winner will be selected using random.org and will have one week to get back to me, otherwise a new winner will be selected.

Happy Knives = Happy Cooks. Yes?

They all look so fantastic – a good knife really makes such a difference. It would be a tough choice between the Hardy Chopper and the Vegetable Knife for me since they both look like they’d be great for cutting up fruits and veggies. Hmm… maybe I’ll just say the Petite Chef because that’s the one I’d use the most (I tend to leave the bigger knives to my hubby). Great contest. 🙂

The 7″ Santoku looks like a great knife. Like you, I also have lots of knives and I am not thrilled with any of them. Thanks for the introduction to Cutco, I had never heard of them.

I would love the 9-1/4″ French Chef with the classic handle. Engraving would be nice, but not necessary 😉 I have few knives but most are high quality. This would fit very nicely in my collection.

who knew there was a knife especially for salmon. I have been using 2 sets of Cutco knives for years. I have 4 knives in a butcher block (white and black) and after those I bought table knives. I do love my knives. Very sharp – have to be careful. I also have scissors that I use for my chicken and other products of theirs.

I have some Cutco knives, and they are pretty impressive. The 7inch Santoku knife looks like it would make dicing and slicing a breeze.

I love knives and actually teach others how to use them properly in the kitchen. I think the Chef’s knife is the most important one and that’s the one I use most often. But to change things up a bit, I’d love a santoku 🙂 Fingers crossed.

oh wait…is it only for Canadians? 🙁

I have 2 Cutco knives in my drawer and I love them! If I could pick another, I would have a hard time picking between the 4″ paring knife, the 7″ santoku and the big butcher knife.

Any of the cheese knives!! That is what we’re really lacking at home, a good knife does make all the difference.

I spent a hefty amount of time reading about Cutco! I would love to have them in my kitchen! Especially the Vegetable knife! 🙂

Never thought about it however, a good knife makes cooking a whole lot easier. The 7″ Santoku knife would be awesome to have in my kitchen!

Back in the mid-90s (OK, I’m showing my age) I received a knife as a gift from my mother-in-law. With all the bad mother-in-law stories out there, you might think it was a weird gift. But that knife – a Cutco knife – was one of the best kitchen presents I’ve ever received. Throughout the years, it has become our favourite family knife. It has a pearl handle and is known in our house as “the white knife”. (I used to entertain the kids when I used it by singing the Grandmaster Flash song “White Lines” and changing the words to “White Knife”. Seriously, how many knives get their own song?) It’s the go-to knife for everything. It has never needed sharpening, never bent and never lets me down. On the website, the knife I like is the Santoku-Style Trimmer. (With the pearl handle, of course.)
