My road trip adventures continue but this time my  adventure was in a cozy Hyundai Elantra.
To be honest, I wasn’t sure I was going to like driving a sedan but it turns out that I loved it. It handled well, had all the right bells and whistles and still had the power I needed to accelerate. Not to mention…a very smooth ride.

I drove the Elantra (happily) all the way to Ste. Anne’s Spa.…which is just east of Toronto. In a little over an hour I was happily staring at these beautiful grounds.

After touring the property, we checked into our STUNNING and SPACIOUS room. This was a real treat for me to actually stay overnight as previously I’d only been for a day visit. Please note, that my last visit was two years ago and there has been numerous renovations and upgrades. ie newly decorated rooms, new gym, and a new gluten free bakery too.

I was treated to 3 beautiful meals (which I enjoyed in my robe) and afternoon tea as well (which I enjoyed in my robe).

One of the perks about staying at  Ste. Anne’s is that IT”S PERFECTABLY ACCEPTABLE TO BE IN YOUR ROBE AT ALL TIMES. Yup – I wore my robe for 24 hours and it was DA best feeling. I’m actually kicking myself that I didn’t buy it. (note to self: next time)

The only disadvantage to wearing a robe for 24 hours is that it prevented me from taking out a bicycle to enjoy the rolling hills that surround this property!!

Naturally I enjoyed a spa treatment as well. My tummy was happy (due to the delicious food) and now my skin was happy too due to the seaweed body masque that I experienced.

I drove back to Toronto very well rested, well fed and relaxed. My 24 hour stay at Ste. Anne’s Spa was superb – on every level – the service, the food, the spa, grounds and accommodations.

The Elantra continues to impress me as I haven’t had to fill up the gas tank for the whole week. Sweet!!

Last week I had the chance to test drive a Hyundai Sante Fe XL and this week I had the chance to test drive a Hyundai Tucson. Can you see how happy I am to be driving a red car! Besides the colour, I seriously enjoyed this car as well. It was great on gas, had a spacious trunk and it was a pleasure to drive. Not too big..Not to small…It was “just the right” size.

What I really enjoyed the most was the extendable visor. I don’t know why every car doesn’t have this feature!

Naturally I wanted to go on a road trip with my (red) Hyundai Tucson,  so I decided to visit Ottawa to see my parents and to visit the Tulip Festival. What a great decision. I simply could not stop snapping photos of the tulips. Here’s a few of my favorites.

I also had the chance to visit the Canadian Museum of Nature. This museum was one of my favorites as a kid and it’s still one of my favorite museums as an adult. I love the building itself, the layout of the museum and all the exhibits too. Please put this museum on your radar!

road - museumIt was also a treat to stay at the Albert at Bay Suite and Hotel. Not only is it centrally located but it has a FULL KITCHEN and a full LIVING ROOM AND DINING ROOM. I absolutely love this hotel and have been a fan for decades!

Here’s a list of upcoming events on my radar for the next six weeks!  Thought I might share some of them with you BEFORE I go, rather than blog about them afterwards! Here we go…

1. Green Living Show. April 25-27th at the Direct Energy Centre.  A show that I won’t miss….I admit that I head to the Local Food exhibitors first and then I stroll thru the rest of the show. Nothing wrong with that, right?

events - green lving show

2. The Toronto Jewish Film Festival (May 1-11th). Again – a festival that I won’t miss.  This is one of the largest festivals of its kind in the world, with films from 23 countries that reflect aspects of Jewish Identity and diversity with universal themes.  For full programming schedule and details, check out http://www.tjff.com.

events - festival book

2. Four Winds Kite Festival at Kortright.  May 3 & 4th (10 am to 4 pm). This is the place to BE to watch spectacular professional kite flying. Seriously this is a unique experience.

3. Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa, May 9 – 19th. I simply can’t wait to wake up early in the morning and snap a gazillion photos of the tulips. It’s really special. Then I’m going to spend the rest of my time, eating my way thru Ottawa!! (for a change).

events - tulip

3. Crave TO: Friday May 30, from 5 pm to 11 pm at Wychwood Barns.  Ignite your senses and launch patio season with Toronto’s premier street food and craft beer creators all to the soundtrack of Toronto DJs. Sounds like a place I want to be!!

events - crave

Looks like I’m going to be busy for the next 6 weeks. Throw in a weekend to the cottage as well which will include test driving a Hyundai. Can’t wait.

Hey May – I’m ready for ya!!

Last week, I had the opportunity to drive a 2013 Hyndai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T  for a week of luxurious, stress-free driving. (the “T” stands for Turbo!).

I was so sad when I had to return it. Look at my sad face!

santa fe - sad faceThere were many things I was sad about when the week ended.  I truly enjoyed taking this car on road trips to Langdon Hall and Hockley Valley Resort. This car was NOT going to sit parked in my garage…I seriously became @momwhodrives.

Specifically I was going to miss many features of this car. Here’s my list of EXACTLY what I sad about.

a) The MASSIVE sun roof. What a difference this made to have so much sunlight streaming into my car.

santafe - window

b) the MASSIVE amount of storage space. It was endless.

c) the hot/cold button that could warm up ALL THE SEATS…even in the back.

d) the CLEAR dashboard. It even showed me a list of near by gas stations when I was low on gas. (without asking..how brilliant).

e) this radar so I wouldn’t hit anything!! Oh my – how I needed this feature when I was on the road as a sales rep for 5 years!

santafe - back up

It turns out that one of my friends just bought this car and when I asked her why she bought the Hyunda Santa Fe  2.0T 2013 – she replied “it fit all her needs”.

I couuldn’t agree more. There is a reason the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T earned the title of “2013 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year”, one the country’s highest automotive honour.

Happy Driving
