I’ve been wearing the same running shoes since 2011 (here’s the blog post that was written in Feb 2011 ). I can’t believe I haven’t bought running shoes since 2011. Can’t explain it. At. All.
So last week, I went to Sport Chek (2529 Yonge St, 416 932 9604) to fix this problem! I was super excited to hear that there’s two hours of complimentary VALET Parking available at this particular location. Sweet.
I was also excited to try out their FREE GAIT ANALYSIS. I’ve never done this before but it involved running (barefoot) on a treadmill for a minute.
Then my gait was analyzed using fancy technology. See the green lines with numbers on it? This is useful information so that I can run more efficiently and determine the best pair of running shoes for my running style. (err..shuffling style)
After trying on three different brands, I finally decided on these new running shoes. (Asics – in the event you want to know the brand).
I also walked away with several exercises so that I can run more better and pointers so that I can run more efficiently.
Sport Chek is definitely worth visiting if you are in the market for a new pair or running shoes. Don’t forget them for your holiday shopping needs too!

I’ve got a confession to make. My twitter handle is “momwhoruns” – but I haven’t put on my running shoes for MONTHS. I should rename my blog “momwhoeats” coz I certainly haven’t been running. But I would never do that – coz I really really like going to the gym.
Just a few months ago, I was regularly going to Body Pump classes, Zumba Classes at GoodLife Fitness (sometimes two classes back to back), or running on a treadmill. Now I am doing NOTHING ..absolutely NOTHING.
I LOVED this class...
I have even participated in triathlons over the last five years and this was the first year I didn’t do one (sniff).

It kinda feels good and it kinda feels bad.
Here’s why it feels good:
-I have more TIME
-Im not as hungry (infact I have not gained weight at all – huge surprise)
Here’s why it feels bad:
-I miss having a goal i.e to accomplish a half marathon, or do a sprint or an olympic distance triathlon
-I miss zumba and body pump. I totally enjoyed those classes.
I’m sure I will return to the gym one day soon!! It’s just a matter of time….right?
p.s I shouldn’t be so hard on myself (but I am) as I did complete the Sporting Life 10K and The Toronto Half Marathon…but they were in MAY!!

Recently I noticed that my running shoes were looking a little worn. OK…a lot worn.
So I went to the Running Room to get a new pair. Naturally I missed out on the Groupon for the Running Room, but that’s another blog post.
Every time I buy running shoes, I tell the clerk to “please bring me three pairs of size 8 running shoe to try on. I don’t need to know the brand or the price. I really just want to find a good FIT“.
So she brought me out three pairs. Here’s what I thought of each running shoe.
Pair number 1: firm all around the foot, lots of padding, and a good fit
Pair number 2: very wide, nice padding and a good fit
Pair number 3: totally weird feeling. It felt like my foot was on an incline.
I walked around a bit and then took out my (beloved) visa to buy the winning pair.
bye bye old running shoes!!
hello...new running shoes
What did I buy? The Saucony 8. My old pair were the Saucony 5.
What on earth took me THREE YEARS to buy a pair of running shoes when Im at the gym USING them 5 times a week.?
Can’t wait to use them. Do you think I will run faster? HA. Time will tell.
