A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about my first time making chicken soup. Now that Thanksgiving is coming up I’m thinking about making my first Turkey. Once again – I’ve never made a Turkey before but I think I’m ready!!
I’m also ready for the Turkey Challenge which is not about making turkey but more about doing something for a good cause.
HERE’S IT HOW IT WORKS:
This Thanksgiving, really give thanks by doing the Fast Turkey Challenge. You agree to fast, by skipping lunch on Friday October 7th and donating your lunch money to the homeless who can’t afford to eat. You also agree to Challenge your friends to do the same, or they have to buy you lunch at your favourite restaurant instead.
THE CAUSE:
All funds raised will go to Good Shepherd Ministries to help feed the homeless. At Thanksgiving they work tirelessly to provide a full Thanksgiving meal to those who can’t afford to eat. In just the las few years, Good Shepherd Centre has seen more than a 50% increase in the number of meals and snacks served each day. Today they are Toronto’s largest meal program, serving more than 1300 meals a day.
SIGN UP NOW & FAST AT LUNCH ON OCT. 7TH! For more info and details please go to www.fastturkey.ca
Feel free to take a peek at this video too:
I will happily support this cause for several reasons:
a) My dad (who sadly passed away last year) was a volunteer at the Good Shepherd in Ottawa and I know this would be meaningful to him if I supported this campaign
b) I’ve been trying to be more charitable and try to give donations on a regular basis. (every bit helps, right?)
c) I like the campaign!! It’s simple and effective.
Please take a peek at this link.
Happy Turkey Challenge everyone and have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend too.
Disclosure: I was compensated for this blog post however all opinions are my own and I promise that I will be making a donation!

When I was a kid, I had a Barbie™ (or two) and I swear I have a Sun Tanned Barbie somewhere in a box in my storage unit. I also grew up with a message that “I Could Be Anything”. It was repeated to me over and over again, (at a very young age) that if I received good grades, I could attend a University overseas.
I was also active in a youth organization and again the message that “I Could Be Anything” helped me decide to run for International President when I was 17. (I lost – in the event you want to know the outcome of that election).
I liked this message and took it seriously. One summer, when I was a university student I wanted to see what it would be like to be a “cook”. So I worked in a hotel kitchen for free!! Yes – I could be anything. However I decided after 3 weeks that it was not going to be a life long profession.
When I found out that Barbie™ is encouraging little ones to be anything they want, with her new campaign: You Can Be Anything!…I knew that I wanted to share this important campaign!!
With over 155 careers and counting, there isn’t a plastic ceiling Barbie hasn’t broken. From Mermaid to Movie Star, Pet Vet to Police Officer, Fashionista to Fairy Princess, there are countless choices for your little ones to let their imagination soar.
There’s no such thing as too wild a dream, too big a hope or too fantastic a wish when it comes to Barbie and the tradition continues this fall, as we bring this to life with the new “You Can be Anything” campaign!
Please look out for it and discuss with your kids that they “Can Be Anything”. It’s really true and it’s a really important message.

Todays blog post is about a really important campaign that was brought to my attention by an organization called Ve’ahavta. I want to share it with you as I truly believe in the work that this organization does.
Ve’ahavta is launching a very unique campaign: COULD IT BE ME? The message is based on a question most of us ask ourselves at some point.
Could it have been me who was born into poverty? Could it be me who ends up on the streets because of a trauma, loss of money, sadness?
To help raise awareness about this campaign please take a minute to look at the following links.
1) Watch this COULD IT BE ME? Youtube video. Every time you, or someone else views it Distributel will donate $1. Please share it widely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggWneMR9xZ4
