The Interior Design Show has been in my calendar for months! It truly is an event that I look forward to even though it’s not really my world at all. As you know I usually go to FOOD events, however there’s something about this show that I’m drawn too. ..the colours, textures, creativity, etc. (just like in a recipe. LOL),

On Thursday night I attended the opening party (lucky me) and here’s a few highlights.

  1. This beautiful carpet caught my eye. Isn’t it gorgeous?ids - carpet
  2. I also liked this fixture.  So interesting!ids - light
  3. This faucet would be a real conversation piece. ids - faucet
  4. These fancy bathtubs #WANTids - bathtubs
  5. Samsung had a presence this year at the Interior Design Show and I think it was a great strategy. They have “design” features in a few appliances that are just brilliant. See this Samsung washing machine? Well it features a top section that is designed just for ONE OR TWO items. This solves the problem we all face when we don’t want to run a full load for that one item!samsung - washer
  6. See this Samsung Fridge? Well it has 3 cameras inside, as well as a white board and so many other clever design features. It really deserves a dedicated blog post (#onmylist).  The three cameras solve the problem when you are driving home from work and wonder if you have milk or eggs in the fridge. All you have to do is tap into your app and bingo – you will find the answer!ids - fridge

Hope you get a chance to visit the Interior Design Show on the weekend. Seeing as there is no sun outside these days – this show will certainly brighten up your weekend!

I’ve just returned from the Interior Design Show and as always I’ve got many photos to share with you. So I won’t bore you any further details. Let’s just get down to business.

Seriously, everywhere you look there’s something that will capture your attention.

I was in awe of this wall covering made from wood. So much texture. So much warmth.

You would think that I would get bored to attend the same event, year after year. But I’m not. Every time I attend the Interior Design Show I am blown away. There’s so much eye candy at this show…it’s not even funny.

Naturally the event starts off for me with the Opening Party. This is one party – I won’t miss. Of course I had to wear the right shoes! LOL.

Here are some beautifully designed pieces that caught my eye.

e) This is one of my favorites…its simply a thick piece of black rope. I think this would look great in a family room or on a bedroom wall behind a bed.

e) Of course, I had to take advantage of the swings and goof around a bit!!

The 2013 Interior Design Show  is written down in my calendar MONTHS before it takes place. I seriously never want to miss this show. Even though my passion is food, I go ga-ga at this show. Tonite was the opening night party…which means I got my hair done at Evoke Salon, put on my party dress and my high heels.

Trust me, I could be snapping photos all night long because everything has a “wow factor” but I don’t want to bore you!! Therefore I will only show you a few photos K?

1. This unique chair from Caviar 20

A real conversation piece!!

2. This bamboo sink from Stone Forest!

Love this.

3. What about this amazing modern fireplace from Acquaefuoco?

4. I really loved this lamp from The David & Chico Show. For me – it was a piece of art. A true statement piece.

Available in all colors

5. Carpets (from Reznick Carpets) are like art too.

Hope you get a chance to visit this amazing show. You won’t be bored!!

I simply love this show. Even though I am a foodie, I can still like design, right? The Interior Design Show which is being held at the Metro Toronto Convention this weekend is a show I won’t miss. This year, I am going twice. That’s how much I loved it. There is just so much to see, and so much to absorb that I really do want to walk thru it a second time.

Here’s a few things that caught my eye:

John should win a prize for hopping into the tub!!

This bathub from Stone Forest is brand new to Canada. It’s $31,000 and weights 2100 lbs. That’s one heavy bath.  This style of bath has been sold in the States for years, but for some reason it JUST got introduced to Canadians this year. My friend (who was born in Paris), told me that she grew up with this style of bath as apartments were small and this bath would still allow you to have a bath without demanding a lot of space.

Kudos to John (who was an exhibitor) for hopping into the bath to model for us. We all had a good laugh.

Next item that caught my eye:

Clever.

What caught my eye was the writing on the board, which said “first generation iPad”. HYSTERICAL. I love clever marketing. Congratulations to www.kinoguerin.com for making me smile!! (ps. they have a wicked business card too).

More:

griddle!!

This magnificent stove top from GE Cafe, was being launched at the show. See the black griddle on the left? Isn’t that genius. I am sure there’s a few pancake loving families who will love this type of feature. I know I would!! GE Cafe continues to create appliances with all the bells and whistles. Worth dropping by their booth!!

I also fell in love with this wood table and light fixture.

There was also a futuristic chair that caught my eye. Can’t decide if I like it or I don’t like it but it certainly caught my eye!!

yes? no? maybe?

I really hope you get a chance to visit the Interior Design Show this weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Hours: Saturday Jan. 28th, 10 to 7 p.m and  Sunday Jan. 29th, 10 to 6 p.m

If you like Crate and Barrel then you are going to LOVE CB2!!

CB2 has 10 stores throughout the United States, but as of Saturday, CB2 will have opened their first International store in Toronto!!

The cover of their catalogue reads: hello toronto and hello affordable mordern for apartment, loft and home.

They are right!!

I had a sneak preview today (lucky me) and I walked around saying to myself “I want”…”I want”…I want”!! Whether “I need”…is a different story!! Truth be told, my good friend gave me a $100 gift card for Crate and Barrel and now I know exactly where to go and what I want.

Want. In. A. Big. Way.

Want!

Want!

I. Want. This. Too!

No question this store will be popular amongst those who live in condos, homes, lofts and apartments!!  Plus, it will appeal to those seeking a great price point for FABULOUS home furnishings. I was super impressed and quickly called a few good friends who are ‘design mavens’ to encourage them to visit the store STAT.

Love.

This week, I am  in “design heaven” as not only did I get a chance to go to CB2 today, but I’m heading to the Interior Design Show on Thursday for my 3rd row in a row. I can’t say enough about this show. There’s aisles and aisles of the latest in design for appliances, furniture, fireplaces and more. It’s a show I won’t miss. So much eye candy – it’s not even funny.

If you like design: this is a show you should attend. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. It features about 4,000 individual designers, studios, firms and companies and is Canada’s largest contemporary design show.

CB2…651 Queen St. West (south east corner of Bathurst and Queen)

Interior Design Show: Jan 26th – opening party. Jan 27th Professional Trade Day. Jan 28 General Admission (10-7 pm). Jan 29 General Admission (10 – 6 p.m). Metro Convention Centre.

I went to the Interior Design show on Thursday nite and walked thru aisles and aisles of beautiful furniture, textiles, art, carpets, kitchens and more. Everything was stunning. I truly didn’t know where to look first!!

It was also the first time I brought my new camera with me to an event!! I am now the proud owner of a Canon EOS Rebel. So allow me to share with you a few pictures.

I love this chair!!

Don’t you just love how the designer made sure  you had easy access to your favorite wines!!

my dream fireplace

I’m also in love with this fireplace.

Bye Bye Stainless Steel - Hello Boiled Bronze

The Jenn-Air booth featured some pretty fancy ovens and I have to say, I fell in love with Boiled Bronze!! I’m predicting that OPI is going to name a nail polish this color too.

How Gorgeous is This?

Came across this display of tulips and thought “I WANT THIS”.

Wallpaper...Gorgeous Non?

Last but not least, I stumbled across this wallpaper by RollOut and was impressed with their unique designs. How cool.

This show is awesome . Period.

In another life, (i.e many many years ago), I was a special events coordinator. I spent my days looking at flower arangements, tablecloths and menus.

Many years later, I still like readng about the latest trends, so I continue to read a magazine called Biz Bash. A little over two years ago, I was reading through it and saw an article that Susan Murray International was open to the public. I quickly grabbed the phone to make an appointment. I went to the showroom and within two minutes knew the table cloth that I wanted. I’m kinda decisive. Have you noticed?

It’s not every day that I rent tablecloths, but we were hosting 40 people for a Friday nite dinner and a Saturday lunch on the occassion of our sons’ barmitzva.

It’s been two years since that occassion and because the Interior Design Show is taking place this coming week (Jan 27 – 30th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre) I was in the mood to visit the showroom again and see the latest trends in table cloths.

I was not disappointed. Susan Murray still sets the tone for unique tablecloths, accessories and fabrics.

She was recently the supplier for the Giller Awards (which is a huge event)  but is happy to rent 4 table cloths (which is what I needed).

So don’t hesitate to give her a call and visit the showroom. HINT.

Contact Info: Susan Murray International, 15 Canso Road, (416) 243-9284

I was on twitter (for a change) and noticed a tweet from @VerdigrisVie  if anyone was interested in going to a taping of the Steven and Chris Show.

I answered “yes” immediately. I hadnt been to a taping of a show in years and I thought it would be fun.

You know me…always interested in an adventure!!!

As much fun as it is to hang out with my foodie friends, it was really nice to hang out with design bloggers for a few hours.  I met, Vitania Liscio of Verdisgris Vie,

Dane Caldwell of 2-Hounds Design,  Susan Forint of Saf Affect, Jennifer Borgh of Jennifer Borgh Events and Andrea Mills and Jennifer Murray from Canadian House and Home.

From Left to Right: Susan Forint, Steve, Dane Caldwell, Jennifer Borgh, Vitania Liscio, and Chris

We clapped on cue, we hollered, we received gifts for attending, and we learned a few tips as well: i.e  how to decorate a room on a budget, setting a table for under $200 etc

So set your PVR’s to CBC on Tuesday Jan 4th at 2 p.m. and by all means visit Steven and Chris’s website too!!

I had a blast and can’t wait to see my new design blogger friends at the upcoming Interior Design Show (Jan. 27 – 30th).
