Posterjack to the rescue!!

There are projects I love doing and there are  projects I hate doing. We all have this problem (I think).

Projects I love: cooking, entertaining, shopping (lol), researching recipes, etc.

Projects I hate doing: putting away the laundry, cleaning my car and PUTTING ART ON THE WALL.

My problems are now solved. All I did was upload a photo, click, click, click and a lovely tube arrived in the mail ready for me to simply PEEL and STICK to a wall. It took just a few minutes and now I don’t have a white wall anymore. WOOT.

The biggest issue was simply deciding which photo I wanted to upload. But once I decided it was a simple process.

I love technology!!

Please visit Posterjack for further information about this great service and this great product.

Now my daughers’ room is looking a bit more complete. Dont you think?

p.s that’s Snuffles on the pillow. He is from the Gund Collection and his tag says 1980!! He was my fav. stuffed animal and now he sits proudly on my daughters bed. But thats another blog post!!

I'm smiling now but I wasnt smiling in July 2010

I had been running without a watch for 5 years. All that changed last summer, when I found out that the Garmin Forerunner 405 was at Costco.

So I bought it. I though it was about time (no pun intended) that I owned a watch.

I was SO excited!! Finally I could track my distance on my rides AND on my runs, my heart rate and all sorts of fun data.

WRONG.

I could not figure out how to use it. Period. I sat with the manual..with the watch…with YouTube videos and had NO LUCK.

My ironman buddy tried to teach me. NOPE…could not get the hang out of it. I was kinda of pissed, as this watch was not cheap.

Finally last week, while attending a social media party called #whatthehashtag, I met @RobTyrie and I noticed he was wearing the

watch that I had not been able to use since JULY 2010. I told him about my fustration. Rob mentioned that it took him HOURS to figure out the manual.

(I believe him. I really do.) Standing beside Rob was was @aprildunford

who said that it was THE WORST MANUAL EVER and they fired the whole time who wrote the manual.. I asked Rob if he could teach both of us how to use it. He gladly accepted the challenge.

We met on Sunday at The Mad Bean for a coffee and I showed up with the manuals and the watch. Sadly April couldnt join us. He patiently taught me how to use it and it took hours!! (I’m not joking).

I wrote notes…the whole nine yards.

Has anyone else had this type of experience with a product? Does anyone else own a Garmin?

Do rant. I just did and it feels great. LOL

Recently I noticed that my running shoes were looking a little worn. OK…a lot worn.

So I went to the Running Room to get a new pair. Naturally I missed out on the Groupon for the Running Room, but that’s another blog post.

Every time I buy running shoes, I tell the clerk to “please bring me three pairs of size 8 running shoe to try on. I don’t need to know the brand or the price. I really just want to find  a good FIT“.

So she brought me out three pairs. Here’s what I thought of each running shoe.

Pair number 1: firm all around the foot, lots of padding, and a good fit

Pair number 2: very wide, nice padding and a good fit

Pair number 3: totally weird feeling. It felt  like my foot was on an incline.

I walked around a bit and then took out my (beloved) visa to buy the winning pair.

bye bye old running shoes!!

hello...new running shoes

What did I buy? The Saucony 8. My old pair were the Saucony 5.

What on earth took me THREE YEARS to buy a pair of running shoes when Im at the gym USING them 5 times a week.?

Can’t wait to use them. Do you think I will run faster? HA. Time will tell.

Lately I’ve been shopping a lot on Ebay. I’m not quite sure what took me so long to get introduced to Ebay but I’m so glad we are now friends!!

In the last month I have purchased: a charger, an iPad screen saver, a Belkin arm band for my iphone and just last week I won the auction for a Canon Rebel EOS. Hooray!!

Oh yeah..I bought this chair too. I was tired of blogging in bed and I didn’t want to blog at a desk either. Here’s the story how the chair was purchased. I was trying to kill time while waiting for @HeatherLochner to meet me for lunch and Structube was right next door. So I wandered in…saw the chair and pulled out my visa. (I’m decisive, can you tell?)

the chair in the store...

Momwhoruns...using the chair

Lunch was a little more expensive than I planned. However I am happy. Really happy.

I’m kinda sad that I cant’t afford the new Michael Kors bag but hey…I’ve got my chair and my new camera. Happiness.

Fashion 411…

My last post was about baking assistance.

This post is about fashion assistance.

I need both!!

How timely that I received an invitation to get “BETTER STYLED“. How could I say no?  I always need help when it comes to fashion coz Im overwhelmed by choices, have no time to get to the malls, and cant seem to focus once Im in a store.

Better Styled offers:

  • individual attention
  • parking..(which isnt so easy these days..have you noticed?)
  • appointments according to your schedule..weekends, nites, mornings, etc.

I made an appointment to meet Erin recently, and was immediately impressed when I walked thru the doors of her office. We sat down in a beautifully decorated room and she asked me a few questions about my “style”. (style? whats that?).

Erin asks me a few questions about my style? what style? LOL

Then she disappeared into her back room..and came out with exactly what I needed.

Erin was awesome..she listened to my fashion problems and then came up with solutions. (like a fashion magician).

I walked out with 2 scarves and a piece of jewellery to compliment a dress I own. I really needed those three pieces but would have never bought them without the guidance of a professional like Erin.

For woman like me (i.e. have no time, and cant seem to make choices once Im in a store)…Erins’ service is invaluable.

For further information, please visit her website at BetterStyled or just call her and make an appointment like I did….416 485 5100 x225 . She can also be reached by email at erin@betterstyled.com.

wore these two outfits all summer

I have been a huge fan of sample sales for the last five years (or more). My favorite sample sale is taking place next week. They only open their doors twice a year to the public and I have only missed it once in 5 years (I was out of town. Can you believe?)

So here’s the details:

Hagerty and LeMessurier Fashions, 71 Wingold (Dufferin and Lawrence), Wednesday Nov. 24th from 10 to 7 and Thursday Nov. 25th from 10 to 6.

Samples will be mostly size 8 but if you are a size 6 or size 10 (like me)…you can still find merchandise that will fit you. I should also warn you that it will be SUMMER merchandise.

Here’s a few of the lines you will find: Eric Alexandre, Isda + Co, NTS and Sandwich. It’s worth clicking on the links!!

In the picture, those two outfits are from Sandwich. I swear,  I wore those two outfits over and over. The nice thing about sample sales is that I never find anyone else wearing what I’m wearing.  Plus I dont have to panic and go to the mall coz I bought everything BEFORE the season started. OH yeah…I save 50%. That’s kinda important to me!!

Other Sales:

Accentrix Fashion Accessories, 555 Richmond Street W (in the lobby) starting Wednesday Nov 17th. Purses, scarves, jewellery, belts, leather gloves etc. Cash only.

I have been going to that sale for a few years too and always score.

EVEN MORE GOOD NEWS:

100 rooms for $100 at Blue Mountain in Collingwood,  Nov 19 -21. call 1 877 445 0231. How sweet is that? I would be going except we have special function this weekend. Would have made a great get-a-way weekend. Let me know if any of you take advantage of this super special.

Happy Savings!!

I wanted to be at the opening of Pusateri’s today at Bayview Village Shopping Centre. I soon found out that there were 100’s of others who wanted to be at the opening of Pusateri’s too!

It was kinda exciting to stand outside the store, waiting for security to open the doors and watch everyone pour in to this BEAUTIFUL store.

I walked by the beautiful cheese section, passed the gorgeous desserts, strolled by the meats/fish, and couldnt help but notice the stunning fruit and vegetables. (grapes the size of my eyeballs – no joke)

When I saw the check out counter I thought to myself “hey, this looks like a boutique hotel”.

The whole store is black, and grey with a lot of light, and gorgeous marble. (atleast I think thats marble).

Its a sexy, sleek grocery store and I’m sure that the neighborhood is delighted.

So drop by Pusateri’s on your next visit to Bayview Village Shopping Centre. You won’t be disappointed.

Happy Grocery Shopping!!

Flowers = Happiness

What makes you happy?

Like really really happy?

Is it a blue sky? ? playing board games with your children? sleeping in? staying in your pyjamas for a whole day? or a good cup of coffee with latte art? (see photo)

Does coffee make you happy?

If I had to answer that question…it would have to be flowers. If I could afford to have fresh flowers every single week I would do it. I get a great amount of happiness from SELECTING the flowers and from arranging the flowers.

Love Flowers!!

How Gorgeous!

When I visit my  favorite flower stores that are lined up on Avenue Road, south of Davenport…I walk around, I think, I gather, I consider…there is a whole thought process going on. It’s unlike any other purchase.

Happy Vicky!

You must think I’m strange. OK I admit it – it is a bit odd. However it makes me happy and being happy is a good thing!!

So tell me what makes you happy?

Being happy and being in the moment..is great.

Happy Flower Shopping.
