I seem to be taking a lot of photos of my “table settings” these days. I will admit, I also take a lot of photos of the food I’m serving too!
There are four elements that I believe are necessary to set a “pretty” table.
a) Flowers
b) Vases – I won’t tell you how many I own or where I store them seeing as I live in a 950 sql condo but let’s just say “I’m creative”. LOL
c) Napkins – again, I won’t tell you how many I own.
d) Placements – see comment above
Here’s a few ideas:
a) A Silver Theme: The inspiration for this table setting came from my from mom who bought me the placemats from Bowring
a) A green and brown combo: The inspiration for this table setting came from the napkins. Expensive but worth it. The brand is called Paviot and can be found at stores like All the Best Fine Foods and Summerhill Market.
b) An orange/red/brown combo…again the inspiration came from the Paviot Napkins.
c) This was my table setting from Chanuka. ..the inspiration for this table came from the runner which I picked up for $3 at a dollar store.
e) A red/white theme. …the inspiration for this table came from the placemats that I bought on a trip to Barcelona. They were cheap and easy to pack! Scored. As you can see I love setting my table and I love entertaining.
I have a feeling I will do a blog post about some of my favourite serving dishes too. I have a few. LOL

In another life I would like to be a florist. I truly love flowers. Therefore Canada Blooms is a show that I really appreciate and adore.
I think I like flowers as much as food! I simply could not stop taking photos even though I don’t have a backyard to landscape or furnish. It’s still good to dream, right?
Yes – I’m a dreamer. Just a wee bit of a dreamer.
I also dream about growing plants that survive. Believe it or not, I do not own one green plant in my apartment. Why is that? Oh right – it won’t survive more than 2 months. However I’m convinced that this summer my patio will have multiple containers that will thrive. Stay tuned.
Seeing as I’m mostly a food blogger, it was only appropriate for me to pick up some delicious Ontario Honey with Lemon. (from the Toronto Botanical Garden booth) I swear this stuff isn’t even going to make it onto a piece of toast. Its going from the tablespoon – right into my mouth! Who needs toast?
I hope you consider visiting Canada Blooms. There are beautiful exhibits, speakers, workshops and more!!

There’s a new app on my phone that I would like to share with you! See the icon that says “Nectar Flowers” ? Well I just installed it and then I used it to send flowers to my daughter over the weekend!
This app is truly unique and as you know I like anything unique!! Why did I like using this app so much? Here’s a few reasons..
a) I was able to record a video message instead of a note! Love this idea
b) It was super easy to use. After several clicks…my order was processed.
c) The app will even assist you if you don’t know the exact address
I love discovering new apps. Infact, I actually need to write an entire blog post about some of my new favorites so stay tuned.
Here’s the bouquet that was delivered which is called: Sun Bath Bouquet. Price ($39) ps vase not included.
Seeing as Valentines Day is around the corner, I thought I would share this special offer with you!

I entertain a lot! But I really really enjoy it. I’m passionate about all aspects of entertaining….planning the menu, buying the flowers, setting the table, and cooking too! The only part I don’t enjoy is cleaning up and I’m quite sure that I will never enjoy that part!
Entertaining can be expensive but it doesn’t have to be! Here are some tips for Holiday Entertaining.
a) Try and not buy prepared foods. In fact, try and make everything from scratch. Trust me it will taste better AND it will be cheaper. I even make my own pita crisps!
b) Prepare a menu with vegetables that are in SEASON. This will really reduce the cost of your meal.
c) When I shop at No Frills, I’m confident that my grocery bill is going to be lower than shopping at competitors. Not to mention I can use my PC points to help offset the costs of my meal! Im positively thrilled that PC Plus is now available at No Friils. It’s so easy to earn points toward dollars off your grocery bill and that’s right up my alley!!
c) Develop a menu where you get a lot of bang for your buck. For example, this apple crisp recipe or these two ingredient desserts.
d) My rule of thumb: soup/salad….one main course with three side dishes, and dessert.
I would like to end this blog post with a personal story: No Frills comes to my rescue EVERY year around Passover. I save up all my points for that one holiday where my grocery bill is going to be triple what it usually is. I received this “tip” from a friend years ago and have been following her advise every since. (Thanks D.K)

Disclosure: I am a blogger who is participating in a PC Plus No Frills program and have received compensation for my participation. However all opinions are my own.

I love entertaining…the menu planning, the cooking and even setting the table. But I won’t include the “cleaning up” part! (we can save that for another blog post.)
Most of the menu I had made before but there were 2 new recipes (*) that I was checking out and guess what? They were a hit.
-A Deconstructed Salad.
–Spinach Pesto Tilapia
-Roasted Brussel Sprouts (recipe: Barefoot Contesssa)*
-Tomato/Bocacini/Roasted Garlic/Basil Skewers
-Quinoa salad with Apples and a Curry Dressing* (recipe: Martha Stewart)
Dessert: Meringue Nests with Fresh Raspberries
These photos might help you visualize the menu!
-Dessert: Meringue Nests with Whipped Cream and Fresh Raspberries.
The nests came out more like discs. #ohwellstilltasty
As for the table: I thought it would be a great time to buy white tulips, white roses and babies breath. (source: any of the flower stores at Avenue/Davenport)
Hope this blog post inspires you to host a dinner party one day soon as well!
Note: Stay tuned for another blog post as I had more company over last night and made lasagna cups for my first time!

What makes you happy?
Like really really happy?
Is it a blue sky? ? playing board games with your children? sleeping in? staying in your pyjamas for a whole day? or a good cup of coffee with latte art? (see photo)
Does coffee make you happy?
If I had to answer that question…it would have to be flowers. If I could afford to have fresh flowers every single week I would do it. I get a great amount of happiness from SELECTING the flowers and from arranging the flowers.
How Gorgeous!
When I visit my favorite flower stores that are lined up on Avenue Road, south of Davenport…I walk around, I think, I gather, I consider…there is a whole thought process going on. It’s unlike any other purchase.
Happy Vicky!
You must think I’m strange. OK I admit it – it is a bit odd. However it makes me happy and being happy is a good thing!!
So tell me what makes you happy?
Being happy and being in the moment..is great.
Happy Flower Shopping.

I love setting tables. Can you tell?
It all starts with the napkins.
After I select the napkins..then I select the flowers. Which means, I head to my favorite flower store at Avenue/Davenport. I’m like a kid in a candy store while selecting my flowers.
Love the combination of brown and orange too. What do you think?
Black and White Table Setting: Simple but it did the trick.
Can you tell how much fun I am having setting my tables? Hope so.
